Sustainability @ La Cueva
Relax while supporting people and planet
La Cueva de Miravet was lovingly designed and built by hand over ten years, with the goal of creating the first luxury ecolodge in Castellon Province.
We have integrated sustainability in everything we do, from rehabilitating an existing building, using local stone for walls, off-grid energy and water, a minimalist swimming pool, and recycled materials such as railway sleepers for door arches.
Our team works hand in hand with local producers and service providers, ensuring that local communities benefit from high quality tourism. In return, communities welcome our visitors like family, giving you a truly cultural experience.
The surrounding natural environment is also our priority. Our team repairs the terrace walls, plants native species and works with communities to manage populations of native species in the nearby area.
Finally, the ecolodge offers eco-friendly materials, avoids waste, manages water use and practices composting, ensuring your visit contributes to people and planet.

Things to note during your stay
- Access road: The last 1.5km of road is unsurfaced, and the initial 500m up the mountainside can be rough, especially after storms. We regularly take this road with non-4WD vehicles with no incidents. While it is safe when driven carefully, we do not take responsibility for accidents or breakdowns.
- Off-Grid: We have our own solar installation and bring water by truck as there is no groundwater available. Guests should minimise their energy and water consumption as much as possible. Should any unexpected issues occur, the La Cueva team will come quickly to ensure your stay is not affected.
- Climate: The ecolodge is designed to not require air-conditioning (i.e. 50cm+ walls) during summer. We recommend turning on fans, drawing curtains and keeping doors shut to stay cool. In winter, central heating plus fireplaces in the salon and two bedrooms will keep you cozy.
- Cave safety: Access to the cave zone and descent into the cave is only permitted with prior approval and with a signed indemnification form. Cave visits with a trained guide are at additional cost based on guide availability. Visits are not guaranteed, please request when booking to confirm.
